Seeing the Supreme Court's recent scrutiny on BS4 cars, and the fact that CAQM recently stated that all taxis by 2027 and all commercial vehicles by 2030 should be EVs or hydrogen powered, this got me thinking how to implement it.

Companies should be informed to stop manufacturing of gas-powered vehicles, gradually reducing them until zero. Instead of taxis, first non-commercial vehicles (by 2030) then bikes and scooters (~2033). Then the rollout to taxis (~2035) and other commercial vehicles, lastly being heavy trucks (~2037). This is because commercial vehicles are many, and also taxis and others usually have less money to spare for buying new vehicles.

The ban for BS4 cars should be temporarily lifted, but put back once the EV transition is complete for each vehicle class. (e.g. for non-commercial vehicles, ban put in place ~2030). This means that old BS4 cars and people who just bought them can get some use out of their cars.

For heavy trucks, the only main viable option (for now) is hydrogen, as they guzzle fuel, so electric manufacturing for them should be avoided, but if by then EV tech is enough to be used, then both options should be available. This can also be done for all classes, but especially for trucks.

Heavy infrastructure development of charging stations should be done, adopting superfast technology for charging under 15 minutes outside and at home overnight charging. Grants should be given to those companies and (former) petrol pumps who comply, and extra for the early adopters.
Only then do I feel our country will be prepared for a green, EV India.
